About The Position

The Principal Technical Program Manager (TPM) at Amazon is responsible for leading and managing complex technology projects across cross-functional teams. This role involves driving strategic planning, optimizing collaboration, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-impact product initiatives. The TPM will work closely with product managers and engineering leads to develop comprehensive program plans, manage roadmaps, and communicate effectively with executive management.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience.
  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience.
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience.

  • Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Own successful delivery of large, high impact and highly cross-functional product initiatives while simultaneously and accurately tracking a set of smaller projects.
  • Drive strategic cross-functional planning, leading discovery and prioritization by closely partnering with product managers and engineering leads to develop program plans that include roadmaps, dependency identifications, and resourcing plans.
  • Ascertain the true requirements underlying feature requests; recommend alternative technical approaches and help engineering efforts meet aggressive timelines.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively to executive management on short and long term plans, program updates, and critical issues.
  • Refine existing and build new mechanisms to optimize the output and collaboration within the team and with partners, e.g., experiment tracking, intake processes, metrics reporting.
  • Drive the 2-3 year SP tech strategy aligning with the SP product strategy for Detail Page collaborating with the PMT leaders.
