In this role, you will oversee the total cost, strategy, and relationships with capital equipment and supplier-held tooling suppliers while managing supply chain risk. This position combines expertise in tooling design, project management, and supplier collaboration to bring new products and ideas from concept to completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing, program management, commodity management, or a related role involving negotiating, identifying opportunities, selecting suppliers, implementing contracts, or in-depth technical expertise with capital equipment.
  • Experience managing new product introductions or product transitions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of issues, initiate actions, and make effective decisions.
  • Ability to integrate inputs from multiple functions into actionable plans while balancing competing priorities.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and tight timelines professionally and effectively.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Oracle skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally, including rapid response to supplier sites for emergencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma or equivalent certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) role at GE Appliances or a similar role involving capital equipment specification and implementation.
  • Experience managing outside tool shops and tool development with multiple suppliers.
  • Prior sourcing or purchasing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commodity sourcing strategy and manage all aspects of capital equipment and stamping die supplier relationships for assigned commodities and locations.
  • Work with tooling suppliers to ensure adherence to industry-standard tooling design practices and GE Appliances Tooling Standards.
  • Drive the execution of capital equipment strategy for products and programs and collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, marketing, operations, and manufacturing specialists.
  • Utilize Ivalua RFQ tools and Pugh Matrices to manage negotiations.
  • Award business to suppliers via purchasing contracts or implement pricing agreements, bundling purchases when opportunities exist.
  • Maintain die build tracking logs throughout scoping, design, build, and qualification for new and modified tools.
  • Determine supplier risk and lead mitigation efforts, including preparing Rapid Ratings.
  • Review and approve purchase orders, process changes, and resolve supplier issues when escalated.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best commercial terms including price, quality, delivery, risk mitigation, after-sales service, and extended capital equipment warranty.
  • Ensure purchase orders and terms meet Finance, Legal, and Sourcing requirements.
  • Support EHS initiatives with suppliers, including IS Networld and EHS Standards.
  • Ensure agreements and POs provide maximum protection to GE Appliances in the event of a dispute.
  • Lead contract reviews with cross-functional representation for higher-risk purchases and manage contracts over $1M using Docusign.
  • Provide cross-functional support to internal customers and support NPI initiatives representing Sourcing.
  • Support stamping tool and molding prototype sources and approve purchase orders.
  • Travel to suppliers as needed during critical NPI timelines or to evaluate supplier viability with the AME and AQE Teams.
