Based in Norfolk, VA, you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join NCIA CIS Support Unit (CSU) Norfolk (USA) which is responsible to manage, deliver and maintain assigned Communications and Information Systems (CIS) products and services for Agency customers during peacetime, crisis and war throughout its assigned AOR and as otherwise directed. As the local service provider and Service Management Authority for SACT and JFCNF it supports the NCIA in delivering secure, reliable end-to-end services under the Enterprise Service Delivery Model (ESDM). We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Principal Technician (Cyber Security) who will take on the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Leads team of 3-4 Cyber Security and COMSEC personnel through day to day operations
  • Responsible as the Cyber Security Principal Technician for the administration of all aspects of Cyber Security activities in coordination with the NATO Cyber Security Center (NCSC), to include, but not limited to, boundary protection management, data loss prevention and enterprise antimalware.
  • Schedule, coordinate and facilitate security audits and inspections, manage post inspection actions.
  • Supervises monitoring, testing, evaluating computer security systems and the evaluation of Cyber Security aspects of CIS Accreditation.
  • Serves as the focal point for planning, implementing and maintaining Cyber Security services for North America national customers as per extant SLAs and other service agreements.
  • Plans and as necessary implements Cyber Security services to ad hoc activities in N. America (e.g. exercises, high profile events, operations, etc) in support of Agency SLs, DSO, Strat and other Agency organizational elements as applicable.
  • In conjunction with ACT Office of Security, Allied Command Counter Intelligence, NCSC, supervises all CSU Norfolk activities related to Cyber Security incidents within the AOR.
  • Can support physical task requirements with the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years post-related experience. Or a secondary educational qualification with 5 years post-related experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with system security, security architecture, network security engineering, security governance, and risk management;
  • Detailed knowledge and working experience of security and networking technologies including IPv4, Firewalls, Virtual Private Networks, Proxy Servers, Intrusion Detection and Forensic tools;
  • Experience with wireless LAN technologies and endpoint security of mobile devices including laptops, tablets and smartphones;
  • Experience with security incident handling, interpretation of Cyber Security audit results;
  • Experience conducting risk assessments.
  • One of the following: CGRC/CAP or CASP+ or Cloud+ or PenTest+ or Security+ or GSEC or equivalent certification.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
