Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Systems Software Analyst - Systems Analyst (GAITS) (25-502) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, located in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the eligibility for SCI clearance
  • Knowledge of system engineering principles and practices is also necessary, including system design, development, testing, and evaluation, as applied to ballistic missile systems and related command and control systems
  • A strong foundation in math and physics is necessary, along with experience using tools like MATLAB to support complex data analysis

Nice To Haves

  • Data analytics skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and filter large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform predictions of future ballistic missile threat levels
  • Experience in analyzing and characterizing ballistic missile threats, including threat systems, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and the ability to predict future threat developments based on trends and patterns
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the technical disciplines that support ballistic missile threat analysis and prediction, including the ability to integrate and analyze data from various sources to improve predictive models and simulations
  • Specific knowledge of one or more MDS elements such as C2BMC, AN/TPY-2, LRDR, BOA, SBIRS, GMB, Aegis BMD, PATRIOT
  • Knowledge of operating systems such as Unix/Linux
  • Experience with Agile Scrum and continuous integration practices
  • Experience in scenario generation, demonstrating the ability to create realistic and relevant scenarios that support the analysis and testing of missile defense systems
  • Experience with Java or C++ software development, software testing, or software integration
  • Experience with Eclipse, Git, Jenkins, Maven, Jira, and Confluence
  • Experience with using, developing software, and creating scripts on Linux

Responsibilities

  • Support the Analysis Team on Global/GAITS
  • Possess a strong analysis background, encompassing a broad range of disciplines that enable effective filtering of data to predict future states of ballistic missile threats
  • Experience in performance analysis and characterization of large-scale complex system simulations, focusing on ballistic missile threats, weapon systems, and command and control architecture
  • Possess a working or theoretical understanding of ballistic and non-ballistic missile defense concepts, including Battle Management and Command and Control (BM/C2) systems, defense communication systems, and the Missile Defense System (MDS)
  • Analyze real-world data related to Missile Defense and Space Domain Awareness
  • As part of an Agile Scrum team, develop and finalize features and stories aligned with program objectives
  • Gather and analyze real-world data
  • Develop new algorithms to utilize the data efficiently
  • Regularly update current algorithms with new data
