About The Position

Agile Decision Sciences is looking for a Sr Systems Engineer to join our team at NASA HQ. In this role you will be supporting NASA's Special Projects & Missions team.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree and 10 years of experience. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Familiarity with TDRS operations, NASA's telecommunications infrastructure, and complex system integration.
  • Familiarity with the NASA System Engineering Handbook set of practices.
  • Experience in reviewing deliverables, supporting system engineering life cycle reviews, and making trade study assessments.
  • Familiarity with the SN User Guide (SNUG).
  • Familiarity with White Sands Complex (WSC), Blossom Point Remote Station (BPRS) and Guam Remote Station (GRS) mission-critical infrastructure.
  • In-depth understanding of TDRS (especially SPM customer) communication systems and interfaces.
  • In-depth understanding of the SPM customer concept of operations and scheduling practices.
  • Familiarity with NASA and GSFC Spectrum Management policies and guidelines.
  • Proficiency in SPM Project Service Level Agreements (PSLA) and RF Interface Control Documents (RFICD).
  • In-depth understanding of the TDRS forecast and real time scheduling processes.
  • In-depth understanding of TDRS spacecraft Local Operating Procedures (LOP).
  • Extensive experience writing and executing documentation related to procedures for responses to numerous space domain operational contingencies (e.g. space weather events, radio frequency interference [RFI] events, etc.).
  • Extensive experience coordinating and executing complex multiparty tests of these procedures.
  • Extensive hands-on experience leading troubleshooting and resolution of instances of RFI.
  • An active TS SCI clearance with polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Provide systems engineering evaluations and recommendations to the Network Director, SPM.
  • Perform operations concept, architecture and design development, and analysis and verification activities on other development efforts in concert with other entities.
  • Draft and execute contingency planning for space domain events (e.g. space weather) to protect spacecraft and prolong operational longevity to the extent possible.
  • Provide systems engineering support to the test conductor for satellite ground systems testing.
  • Assist SPM team with support of US Government space activities, with specific focus on formulating recommendations for White Sands Complex (WSC) operations response.
  • Provide background and training on legacy implementations as requested.
  • Assist with analysis and troubleshooting of operational discrepancies as requested.
