The Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) Systems Engineering department within the Effectors Center of the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) organization is currently hiring a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Tucson, AZ location and support LADS Effectors product lines. SE&TC is an exciting and challenging environment where you will have the opportunity to design, develop and partner with multi-disciplines to shape innovative solutions for our customers. The Principal Systems Engineer is a technical role contributing directly to the requirements development and decomposition of complex subsystems as well as developing the verification approach.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience with concept of operations, requirements definition, decomposition, and changes.
  • Experience with communication, technical writings and/or oral presentations to customers and leading technical solutions to complex user needs.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • MS or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics
  • Experience with cPDM, Change Control Boards (CCB), and document release experience (engineering and formal release)
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and work with SMEs, Chief Engineers (CE), Lead Systems Engineers (LSE), and other program stakeholders to make informed technical design decisions.
  • Experience with requirements management using DOORS
  • Experience with MBSE, CAMEO, SysML, or UML
  • Experience with system and sub-system level requirements development, design and documentation of system level software architecture
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with military systems; tactics, techniques, and procedures
  • Familiarity with DoD customer infrastructure and Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle

Responsibilities

  • Interface with cross discipline and cross product teams, lead technical discussions, and possibly direct a small team of in-direct reports in defining and management of interface requirements across multiple products.
  • Support technical discussions, and formulate plans of action by leveraging company Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Develop and maintain requirements, systems architecture and design, updating and maintaining Interface definitions & description documents by collaborating with multiple IPTLs and SMEs to obtain necessary design information.
  • Use your SE technical expertise in development, integration, troubleshooting and failure investigations to mentor junior engineers.
  • Create and manage requirements using requirements management tools such as DOORS
  • Utilize Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as CAMEO and standards such as SysML or UML
  • Lead and support peer reviews and formal release of contract deliverables for Systems Engineering artifacts.
