About The Position

Are you ready to shape the future of aerospace with cutting-edge technology? Join our Rotary Wing Platform Systems Team within the Military Avionics group at Collins Aerospace. Here, you will play a crucial role in developing and testing avionics for the Special Operations Army (SOA) Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) program. This dynamic position offers the flexibility to push the boundaries of technology, enhancing the capabilities for the MH-60M and MH-47G aircraft. This role requires a highly motivated person as a Principal Platform Systems Engineer for the SOA CAAS program. This person needs to be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as a member of the broader team. The selected candidate must be onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA for test events and other lab activities.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Associated documentation experience.
  • Experience in Avionics systems (military or civil aircraft).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Collins Aerospace’s Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) experience.
  • Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience.
  • Working knowledge / understanding of data busses and protocols (Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553B, and ARINC-429)
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Communicate with a wide variety of technical and management personnel as well customers.

Responsibilities

  • You will perform Platform Systems Engineering (PSE) activities for the SOA CAAS program, including requirements/test procedure development, design updates, execution of test procedures, etc.
  • You will support the completion of the Increment plan for the Platform Systems team during the Rotary Wing department wide planning events.
  • You will navigate through the bids & pursuits, adhering to Collins Processes.
  • You will mentor younger engineers through Systems Engineering practices.
  • You will design system solutions, ensuring the integration of Collins Aerospace products into complex upgrade programs for the SOA CAAS program.
  • ~10% travel as needed.
