Requisition: 1241 Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer (Storage) Location: Pocatello ID, Clarksburg WV, or Huntsville AL (on site 5x per week) Clearance Level: Active TS Required, must be able to maintain CI Polygraph Non-Employee Referral Bonus Eligible: $2,000 Principal Systems Engineer III (Storage) In this Storage Administration role, you will be responsible for design, deployment, testing, certification, patching, addressing interoperability issues, not only of the base storage system, but for all features, components, and application dependencies - to include Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), local disk, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, etc.

Requirements

  • NAS/file storage protocols such as SMB/CIFS, NFS v3 and v4.
  • ISCSI and/or Fiber Channel Fabric connections to switches and arrays.
  • Functional knowledge and experience with Windows Server operating system and Active Directory/LDAP/DNS/NTP/Kerberos - specifically how these affect network file system storage access in Windows.
  • Windows NTFS security settings, Windows ACLs, VSS snapshots.
  • POSIX OS ACLs/mode-bits as it pertains to file system permissions.
  • Experience with file-based data migrations utilizing applications like Robocopy and rsync.
  • Methodical approach to change execution and implementation to avoid risk and downtime in an enterprise environment.
  • Understanding of storage concepts like RAID, hard disk technology, disk/device tiering (HSM), disk cache, compression, data-deduplication, replication, snapshots, and host multipathing.
  • Understanding of block, file, and object-based storage as well as their appropriate use cases.
  • Familiarity with virtualization, VMFS, vVols, specifically VMware VCenter/vSphere/vSAN as it pertains to thin provisioning storage and data reduction techniques.
  • 10+ years of storage related experience.
  • Must have active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI-CI Poly eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing and maintaining mainframe storage systems using the FICON (Fiber Channel Connection) protocol is highly preferred.
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: Cohesity, Pure Storage FlashArray or FlashBlade, DellEMC, object protocols (S3), Dell Compellent, Dell Powerstore, Western Digital Intelliflash, NetApp, EMC VNX, Isilon, Hitachi Arrays and Hitachi Command Suite.
  • Advanced mainstream storage vendor certification preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting highly available enterprise grade storage arrays and storage networking equipment.
  • Managing Windows Distributed File System (DFS) for SMB HA.
  • Engineer and implement solutions for multi factor authentication with FBI standardized software and hardware.
  • The Contractor shall document system configurations to include passwords, access controls, version number, and revision numbers, patch levels, and inventory to include hostnames, TCP/IP addresses, number of processors, and number of cores, memory, and license keys.
  • The Contractor shall continually transition knowledge to the Government staff through training and assistance on how to use the technology using industry best practices.
  • The Contractor shall provide real-time reporting of storage provisioned and utilized resources to include performance metrics for tape and disk space consumption, storage availability, performance, and trends.
  • The Contractor shall integrate systems with Windows and Linux as it applies to core service dependencies.
