Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to work onsite in St. Petersburg, FL. The Systems Engineer contributes through all phases of the product development lifecycle (i.e. systems and software requirements, system architecture and design, software integration and test, simulation and test, integration and test, verification and sell-off), within an interdisciplinary process that ensures the customer and warfighters needs are satisfied through every stage. This commitment to excellence can sometimes include opportunities for travel, and flexible hours/shifts to ensure programmatic milestones are met. You will join a team of talented engineers that collaborates across disciplines from initial concepts to product sell off, integrates complex technology, debugs, and resolves interface issues, evaluates system performance, demonstrates, and sells off state-of-the-art products with the responsibility of defining the requirements, design, and architecture of subsystems that comprise the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) product line, located in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of Advanced Networking Solutions (ANS). The U.S. Navy's CEC, a real-time 'sensor-netting' system that brings together radar data into a single integrated air picture from geographically dispersed ships, aircraft, and ground-based units. This integrated picture improves a battlegroup's effectiveness by enabling longer range, cooperative, or layered engagements.

  • Leadership role with a focus on Systems development: Systems Architect, Lead Systems Engineer, Agile Leadership (i.e. - Product Release Manager, Release Train Engineer, Product Owner, Scrum Master)
  • Lead and support requirements and algorithm development, system level designs, and system level models using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Author testable requirements and associated verification approaches aligned with appropriate verification methods
  • Perform integration and test activities in-house or at site locations
  • Utilize DOORS to manage the complete life cycle of requirements, including Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Change Notices (CNs)
  • Attend internal and external Configuration Control Boards (CCBs)
  • Collaborate with Program and Customer Leadership
  • Earned Value Management efforts such as Basis of Estimate (BoE) Author/Reviewer, Proposal support and formal cost and schedule estimating
  • General oversight of system development and maturity as the system and software progresses through the Engineering life cycle
  • Innovative thought and implementation of automated test execution and data analysis using any combination of scripting tools, Python, Matlab, and COTS products
  • Experience in the development, design, and architecture of complex military systems. This includes planning, leading, and executing the development of systems and software requirements.
  • Experience with requirements management databases, i.e. - DOORS for requirements management and linking requirements to test procedures.
  • Experience with software/systems modeling and simulations and experience with MBSE Tools, i.e. - Rhapsody, Cameo, MagicDraw.
  • Experience in data analysis, interpretation of the results, and identification of corrective actions and experience testing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and/or Technical Performance Measures (TPMs).
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience in the operation, test, and troubleshooting of Naval systems.
  • Development of integration, verification, and validation planning documentation of integration and test plans, procedures, reports, status reports, and other related documentation.
  • Experience with Agile development, including project estimating, reporting, and backlog management.
  • Experience in programming C/C++, Python, or other programming languages. Knowledgeable in Linux. Experience with DevSecOps/TDD/BDD; Security+.
  • Experience with automated test scripting and automated data analysis.
