BAE Systems is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Senior Systems Engineer with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience to work on a multi-disciplinary team in an Agile, fast-paced development environment. The qualified candidate will perform systems engineering tasks in support of software development of a Space Ground mission-focused software cloud application. The role will require a knowledge of MBSE processes, practices, tools, and related modeling languages and frameworks to solve complex technical problems. Additional assigned tasks may include analysis of needs, the development of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), working with customers and other team members, preparing user interface mock-ups, technical documentation in Jira and confluence, generation of agile capabilities & user stories, backlog prioritization and management, sprint planning, customer engagement, close interaction with software and system test engineers on the team to achieve program objectives. Perform analysis and tasks at concurrent stages to include technical planning, system design, software implementation, system integration, verification and validation. Because of the need for intermittent in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform a portion of work onsite, this position will be considered hybrid. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility as well as remotely, when applicable.

  • Perform systems engineering tasks in support of software development of a Space Ground mission-focused software cloud application.
  • Utilize MBSE processes, practices, tools, and related modeling languages and frameworks to solve complex technical problems.
  • Conduct analysis of needs and develop Concepts of Operations (CONOPS).
  • Prepare user interface mock-ups and technical documentation in Jira and Confluence.
  • Generate agile capabilities & user stories, backlog prioritization and management, and sprint planning.

  • Interact closely with software and system test engineers.
  • Perform analysis and tasks at concurrent stages including technical planning, system design, software implementation, system integration, verification, and validation.
  • Must have an active Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM field and 6+ years experience in Systems Engineering or Master's Degree in STEM field and 4+ years experience in Systems Engineering.
  • Experience building models and developing modeling strategies using MBSE methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Experience with UML/SysML modeling tools such as Cameo, Enterprise Architect, System Architect, etc.
  • Experience with Agile management tools (e.g., Jira, etc.).
  • Proficient in requirements identification, analysis, documentation, and tracking.
  • Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic/collaborative environment.
  • Domain experience related to DoD mission management and/or space domain awareness.
  • Experience working directly with customers and end users in the DoD and/or Intelligence Community.
  • Knowledge of open, standards-based architectures, interfaces and geospatial data.
  • Experience with end-user acceptance testing.
  • Experience executing RESTful web services using Postman, curl, or a similar tool.
  • Proficient analyzing customer needs, and identifying user stories and technical tasks to achieve various Agile objectives and iterative development schedules.
  • Motivated self-starter with good problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability.
