The Processing, Guidance and Controls (PG&C) Center within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Directorate consists of Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), Signal Processing (SP) and Modeling and Simulation disciplines for Effectors. The PG&C Center is currently hiring for a Principal Systems Engineer - Guidance, Navigation, & Control Lead in Tucson, AZ. As the Principal Systems Engineer - Guidance, Navigation, & Control Lead, This critical role will support the development of the future technology that will enable Raytheon to continue to provide outstanding products to the warfighter. This is an onsite position located in Tucson, AZ.

  • Lead a team of GN&C engineers to develop tactical flight code via System Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis
  • Lead a team to develop missile simulation framework across multiple platforms for a family of effectors
  • Manage budget for tactical code development projects
  • Provide subject matter expert level support to Simulation, Guidance, Navigation and Control for a family of effectors
  • Work within agile framework to lead development of backlogs, plans, and metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement of people, processes, and tools.
  • Identification, establishment and implementation of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Utilize agile development methods, automation, and continuous integration.
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Engineering experience in missile system applications to include, but not limited to, the following:
  • System-level integration, modeling, and simulation experience (e.g., 6 degree of freedom (6DoF) simulation
  • System performance analysis using modeling & simulation
  • Pre-Flight test and Post-Flight test performance analysis and flight test matching
  • Integrating Control-Section, Auto-Pilot Electronics
  • Performing Formal Qualification Testing on flight test software
  • Using Missilekit, GenSim and GenWorld
  • Experience managing and/or leading cross-disciplined teams in a technical capacity.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C, C++, and/or Object-Oriented design.
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start.
  • Multi-discipline engineering background with knowledge of related technologies and products specific to GN&C and to the broader engineering organization (Guidance, Navigation, embedded software, RF and IR seekers, Modeling and Simulation).
  • Experience in the missile software life-cycle including development and qualification testing.
  • Experience with leading GN&C and functional design teams
  • Experience using Linux and configuration management tools such as: SVN, Git and Microsoft Azure DevOps.
