About The Position

This Principal Systems Administration position at AT&T requires a minimum of 5 days per week office presence and is located in the posted locations, with no relocation or employer sponsorship offered. The role is crucial in shaping the future of communications and technology, seeking innovators to redefine connectivity. As a Principal Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring continuous service availability by proactively monitoring, analyzing, and resolving issues within the production on-premises cloud infrastructure. This involves collaboration with architecture, labs, other operations support teams, and cloud tenants to maintain maximum stability, performance, and security of current and future cloud environments through a DevOps model. The role requires subject matter expertise in areas such as Linux, cloud computing, Kubernetes, OpenStack, and OpenShift. This is an expert-level position, applying broad business knowledge and strategic insight to solve complex problems, drive organizational results, and lead critical, high-impact projects. The individual will work with minimal oversight, frequently consulting senior leadership, influencing executive decisions, and serving as a mentor to others.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ of related experience
  • Certification is required in some areas
  • Kubernetes troubleshooting experience
  • OpenStack and OpenShift
  • Linux operating system
  • Subject matter expertise in at least some of the following: Linux, cloud computing, Kubernetes, OpenStack and OpenShift

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure continual service availability through monitoring, troubleshooting, and analyzing problems to prevent service disruptions and to identify root causes along with mitigations to prevent future occurrences.
  • Perform security compliance, auditing, and remediation, perform set up, maintenance, and monitoring of backups, along with routine hardware and software audits to ensure configuration and standards compliance.
  • Develop, promote, and curate standard operating/method of procedures in conjunction with risk assessments to reduce hazards to the network and new solutions being developed.
  • Maintain and continuously improve tools, ad-hoc scripting, and automation infrastructure for configuration management, maintenance, testing, auditing, problem remediation and capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with and manage vendors to drive defect resolution and enhancements for internal customers to meet departmental or enterprise business needs, in addition to providing extended support as required.
  • Perform and schedule software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Perform Operational Readiness Testing and Operational Acceptance Testing.
