About The Position

The Principal Supplier Quality Engineer at Medtronic will be a key member of the Global Supplier Quality team, responsible for ensuring that suppliers deliver high-quality parts, materials, and services. This role focuses on supporting Released Product Management projects, qualifying suppliers, monitoring parts throughout the manufacturing cycle, and driving continuous improvement in product quality. The position emphasizes collaboration with various functions to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, ultimately contributing to Medtronic's mission of alleviating pain and restoring health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience OR advanced degree and 5+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support Released Product Management (RPM) projects to ensure that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services.
  • Qualify suppliers according to company standards and administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection.
  • Monitor parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and resolve supplier-related problems as they occur.
  • Develop and prioritize an auditing schedule for designated suppliers to ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards.
  • Evaluate suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provide feedback.
  • Collaborate with other functions on supplier transfers or cost savings initiatives to deliver quality parts and prevent defects.
  • Provide technical guidance and quality compliance for Supplier Quality engagement throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate to develop and deliver the Product Acceptance Sampling Strategy and Approved Supplier List coordination.
  • Define Receiving Inspection requirements and associated test method validation for internal Medtronic Test Methods.
  • Conduct supplier PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
  • Manage the component qualification process, FAI, and manufacturability assessment.
  • Conduct root cause investigation and Supplier CAPA management.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues within Supplier Quality and other functions.
  • Drive project strategy for Supplier Quality input to RPM projects.
