About The Position

BAE Systems is hiring for a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer. Ideally this position can support hybrid work from our Maple Grove, MN site, although remote work within the US will be considered. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will support a supplier base across various regions in the United States. International travel may be required at times. As a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting several products within a given program area/market segment. This position will focus on new product introduction and APQP methodologies. You will work in an Integrated Project Team (IPT) environment and will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of quality for the team as well as overseeing new product introduction in the munitions environment.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical degree, and four (4) years related Quality Assurance experience, or the overall equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience in APQP methodologies.
  • Knowledge of new product introduction.
  • Prior experience with the management of a Quality Management System.
  • Strength in planning and time management.
  • Excellent communication, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Able to support travel of up to 25% in the Minnesota / Wisconsin / Illinois / Indiana / Kentucky region of the US with occasional travel to other regions including international ones.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of munitions development or manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating in an organization with government quality oversight.
  • Quality experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with APQP and complex machining operations.
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFAR requirements.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 standards.
  • Experience with Lean and process improvement tools/methods.
  • Experience with Six Sigma, SPC techniques and PFMEA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier quality investigations, evaluations, and resolutions, driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with quality standards
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate submission of quality documentation, enforce purchase order requirements, and drive supplier performance improvements
  • Champion problem-solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate non-conformances and foster a culture of quality excellence
  • Drive supplier quality and performance improvements through data-driven insights and collaborative problem-solving
  • Ensure program success by coordinating quality activities across multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Execute containment and inventory management activities to prevent defects and ensure product reliability
