Principal Supplier Performance Engineer
About The Position
As a Principal Supplier Performance Engineer, you will ensure the highest standards of personal, industrial, and nuclear safety, promoting these principles as fundamental aspects of daily work. You will lead assigned cost‑reduction projects and new product development projects, driving efficiency and new ideas across the organization. You will ensure risk mitigation by conducting technical assessments to de‑risk new suppliers, supporting the resolution of supplier‑related issues, and addressing negative performance trends through corrective action and continuous improvement projects. You will also implement performance enhancements across processes, products, and supply chains. It ensures the resolution of complex quality and technical issues, working cross‑functionally to safeguard delivery, compliance, and customer satisfaction. Additionally, you will contribute to make/buy decisions and support security‑of‑supply risk mitigation efforts, ensuring sourcing strategies for our needs. You will report to the Senior Manager Supplier Manufacturing Operations. This is a 100% remote position.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering
- 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering/manufacturing
- Knowledge in manufacturing processes, e.g. CNC machining
- Experience performing process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification
- Working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Plans, PFMEAs.
- Experience performing process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification
- Experience with identify project tasks, develop schedules, manage spend
- Experience authoring technical documents or operating procedures
- Experience reading drawings and specifications made to ASME standards
Nice To Haves
- Experience with nuclear products and standards desired
- Project Management experience desired
Responsibilities
- Reinforce Nuclear Safety Culture Traits and Human Performance Tools within Westinghouse and across the supplier network.
- Lead supplier development and qualification efforts for new products and cost‑reduction projects. Responsibilities include identifying project risks and defining mitigation actions, managing project schedules, approving supplier process documentation, performing process capability and measurement system analyses, and providing feedback to improve design for manufacturability.
- Lead technical assessments of new suppliers for manufacturing capability, capacity, process controls and supply risks
- Perform on-site and remote supplier oversight to improve performance, resolve issues and validate capability to meet requirements·
- Manage internal and supplier corrective action requests, perform cause analyses, and verify completion of preventative and corrective actions
- Lead and escalate “quality events”, coordinating activities, issuing communications, identifying partners to ensure prompt identification of impacted products, disposition, and corrective action·
- Evaluate procurement risk, solicit partner input, and use resources to develop security of supply risk mitigation plans
- Use manufacturing process knowledge for make/buy decisions
