About The Position

• Perform structural analysis on spacecraft, instruments, payloads, optics, mechanisms, and ground support equipment. • Use closed form and finite element analysis techniques in stress analysis and structural dynamics. • Develop loads and environments for structure and components. • Support structural and environmental testing for static, modal, acoustic, shock, and vibration. • Write detailed reports for test and analysis activities. • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. • Perform other duties as necessary. Working Conditions: • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment. • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear are required. • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 6 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education.
  • Required skills and proficiencies include Nastran experience with static, modal, buckling, and frequency response.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master of Science Degree in a structures related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency preferred in the following areas: o General Software: Simcenter, FEMAP, LS-Dyna, Abaqus, MATLAB, Adams, Solidworks, Python o FEM Applications: Explicit, Transient, Nonlinear, Multibody Dynamics, Line of Sight, and Jitter
  • Structural Analysis: Bolted and Bonded Joints, Welds, Electronics, Antennas, Fracture and Fatigue
  • Materials: Composites, Ceramics, and other high temperature materials
  • The ability to support multiple efforts and manage competing priorities.
