About The Position

Principal Storage and Data Protection Administrator based in Tucson, AZ collaborates with a motivated team to support fast-paced, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you will meet regularly with program stakeholders to review the current storage hardware environment, identify and prioritize client servers and data to be backed up. Execute, monitor, and track backups, as well as update and review the backup agreement with the designated stakeholders monthly. You are the designated subject-matter-expert (SME) for storage hardware, networking, and backup applications (NetBackup, CommVault, & Veeam) as well as the system’s infrastructure SME for tape library, Storage. Note on Location: This position may require travel to other locations both local and domestic as dictated by customer driven work requirements. Relocation support is available if the applicant is eligible per company policy.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or a master’s degree and minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Start date will be set when interim clearance is issued.
  • Experience administering and supporting enterprise storage and data protection systems such as Veeam, NetBackup, Commvault, NetApp (ONTAP), IBM, and Dell solutions
  • Experience with Linux Operating System
  • Experience with Windows operating systems, including one or more of the following: Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows 2016 - 2019 Server

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain required Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 1 year of hire date
  • In-depth knowledge in NetApp, Veritas, CommVault, and VEEAM systems, integral in the system backup and data protection process.
  • Experience operating and leading in an Agile Scrum environment
  • In-depth experience with Active Directory, Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, Working knowledge of system update/patch management – WSUS, SCCM, Chef, Puppet, Exchange
  • Strong experience with virtual computing technologies with VMWare, vCenter, vSphere and ESXI virtual computing methodologies
  • Security+ certification or willingness to obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • Working knowledge of thin client technologies
  • Working knowledge of unified OS account management technologies – Centrify
  • Strong understanding of fundamental TCP/IP concepts
  • Scripting / programming experience
  • Strong understanding of fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts.
  • CISSP Certification
  • Active US DoD Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Champion the Storage & Data Protection standard and establish yourself as the storage hardware and backup software subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with program stakeholders and storage architects for storage hardware performance, client connectivity and capacity management.
  • Prioritize client servers and their data to be backed up.
  • Experience background in data storage systems, backup software (NetBackup, CommVault, & Veeam) and Quantum tape library systems.
  • Monitor and track client and data backups.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and restart failed backups ensuring that they have been completed successfully.
  • Review and update the backup agreement and backup health checklist with the designated stakeholders monthly.
  • Cycle and track tape inventories.
  • Respond to online service requests from users.
  • Ensure server and application compliance with security and performance requirements (DFARS, RMF, NIST Cybersecurity Framework).
  • Communicates and works with associated organizations including the Front-End-of-the-Business architecture team, mission area Digital Program Leads (DPLs), end-users, Network Engineering, hardware & software vendors.
  • Install and upgrade the system’s hardware and software.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain technical and operational documentation (including procedures) to continually improve our computing environments.
  • Experience in multiple areas such as (Storage networking, Windows, Linux, virtualization, User Authentication, DNS, NFS, system imaging/build automation).
  • Assist in developing the overall performance and capability of your technical team through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide timely updates to management on project lifecycles e.g., Jira.
  • Potential for domestic or international travel.
  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours
