In the role of Principal Statistician within GSK's Research Statistics team, you will play a pivotal role in the drug discovery process by providing hands-on statistical consulting for scientific research projects. This position is integral to GSK's mission of advancing innovative ideas in drug discovery, where you will collaborate with leading scientists to design experiments, analyze data, and visualize results. Your work will encompass a wide range of projects, from small studies with single endpoints to complex analyses involving high-dimensional genomic data. You will employ classical statistical methods, Bayesian techniques, and modern machine learning algorithms to address critical questions in drug discovery. As a Principal Statistician, you will work closely with GSK scientists and leadership to tackle pivotal drug discovery questions using advanced statistical techniques. You will identify major scientific inquiries that can benefit from statistical approaches and propose effective implementation strategies. Your responsibilities will include employing established statistical techniques and innovating novel methodologies to address scientific challenges. You will also conduct thorough literature reviews and simulations to evaluate the applicability of various statistical methods to drug discovery issues. Your role will require you to craft experiments with clear objectives that comprehensively address scientific queries, ensuring that data analysis yields reliable outcomes for critical decisions regarding targets, compounds, and technologies. You will be responsible for presenting statistical principles, designs, and results transparently to GSK researchers and management at all levels. Additionally, you will collaborate with fellow statisticians on departmental projects aimed at enhancing technical abilities and refining consulting skills, while also working with other quantitative groups to achieve shared goals.
