Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting the Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a Ground program. The successful candidate will demonstrate broad systems and software engineering lifecycle knowledge. The candidate must be adaptable to course corrections and ever-evolving plan changes, have a solution-based mindset, and be able to advise and present managing scope and dependencies to both the technical and leadership teams. These teams are geographically dispersed, and the candidate should have the ability to operate as a team lead in a fast-paced software testing environment. The candidate is expected to operate independently with little oversight in a dynamic environment and to be highly self-motivated. The individual is expected to handle diverse assignments with efficiency, finding unique solutions, and working in a very collaborative and fast-paced environment that continues to grow. This position will be at one of our sites in Morrisville, North Carolina, Fairfax, Virginia, or Linthicum, Maryland. Compensation varies depending on location. This position requires being on-site and does not support remote or hybrid work.

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance at the time of application.
  • Must have a completed STEM degree (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics).
  • For Principal (Level 3): 5 years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (STEM), 3 years with a completed Master's (STEM), or 1 year with a completed PhD (STEM).
  • For Senior Principal (Level 4): 8 years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (STEM), 6 years with a completed Master's (STEM), or 4 years with a completed PhD (STEM).
  • Experience with software Requirement Verification & Validation (V&V), including manual and automated test methodologies.
  • Experience with Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and their utilization in the testing process.
  • Experience with requirements, the decomposition process, and how verification methods are applied.
  • Experience with MBSE (Cameo).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Favorably adjudicated CI polygraph.
  • Experience with Python, Behave, and MATLAB.
  • Experience working within the Linux environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile processes.
  • Familiarity with the use of Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket.
  • Familiarity with the use and/or management of Jenkins (or other) CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience using cloud services, such as AWS.
