The Microelectronics, Design, and Applications (MDA) organization is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Factory Planning Systems Engineer to join our team and pioneer new approaches, design and implement technologies for a computer integrated manufacturing system. You'll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make these technologies a reality.

  • Build and maintain robust dispatching and scheduling environment (AMAT SmartFactory CIM solutions, RTD/RTS/AMA) using programming / low-code / no-code solution
  • Work hand in hand with Capacity Modeling and Planning team to drive scheduling improvements
  • Utilize data analysis methods to simulate impacts to proposed logic changes and then utilize data collection and analysis methods to validate those changes post deployment
  • Use industrial engineering principles to debug and improve dispatching and scheduling logic
  • Respond to issues and concerns from business area experts with regards to dispatching and scheduling logic
  • Partner with process area SMEs to ensure area specific business rules and requirements are captured in dispatching and scheduling logic
  • Drive continuous improvement and back up decisions with data
  • Use systems engineering principles throughout daily work
  • A degree in a STEM area (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with a minimum of 5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with a master's degree, or 0 years of experience with a PhD
  • Has worked in a semiconductor or microelectronics fab with automated dispatching and scheduling
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Some computer programming knowledge and capability
  • Adept in using SQL to query and join information from multiple tables at once
  • Experience with defining requirements and technology roadmaps for internal stakeholders and external vendors
  • Capability to create test plans for requirement sell off events
  • Must be willing to work on site 100% of time
  • Limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required
  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance per business requirements
  • Active US government security clearance per business requirements
  • Proven ability to lead teams and coordinate meetings
  • Working knowledge of scheduling and dispatching systems
  • Experience in semiconductor or R&D microelectronics manufacturing utilizing automated dispatching and scheduling
  • Experience using industrial and systems engineering principles in the context of scheduling and dispatching systems
  • Worked with Applied Materials' Real-Time-Dispatch (RTD) and Real-Time-Scheduler (RTS) products
  • Familiar utilizing Applied Materials' AMA to program a broad range of automation solutions
  • In depth knowledge of scaling servers in a production environment to support a rapidly expanding suite of automated jobs via Activity Manager
  • Experience in modern programming languages (Python, R, C#, SQL, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of change control principles, specifically applied to a manufacturing operation
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and software tools, i.e. Atlassian tools stack - Jira, Confluence
  • Capable of utilizing data analysis to predict outcomes of logic changes and to validate those changes post-deployment
  • Capable of utilizing SQL and other techniques to combine data from a multitude of sources with experience writing ETL, creating new tables and views, and utilizing triggers and scheduled jobs to maintain structured tables
