Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics System sector is currently hiring a Principal Supplier Quality Engineer/Senior Principal Supplier Quality Engineer. This is a remote opportunity; however, candidate must be located in the East Coast or Midwest area. Position requires extensive travel, 100%. Position also requires ability to fly commercially on very short notice to meet company commitments. Essential functions: Responsible for Supplier Quality risk management. Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems. Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance. Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures. Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues. Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list. Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process. Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks. Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases. Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs. Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of supplier quality risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) AND 5 years of quality/manufacturing experience, OR a Master's degree in STEM and 3 years of quality/manufacturing
  • Must have a Valid State Driver's License to operate a personal motor vehicle and have a dependable motor vehicle to travel to local suppliers
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access per business needs
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) AND 9 years of quality/manufacturing experience, OR a Master's degree in STEM and 7 years of quality/manufacturing experience
  • Must have a Valid State Driver's License to operate a personal motor vehicle and have a dependable motor vehicle to travel to local suppliers
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Program Access per business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced quality principles, root cause failure analysis, problem solving, fabrication and assembly processes, and team facilitation.
  • Certified AS9100 Quality System Auditor
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor
  • Hands on experience and knowledge of critical manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, heat treatment, chemical processes, nondestructive inspection, material test, surface enhancement, welding, and composites fabrication
  • Aerospace Manufacturing Certifications
  • Experience participating in the Nadcap accreditation program
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Certified Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Level 2 or 3
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (granted or renewed within the past 5 years)

  • Conduct Special Process audits to verify conformance to Northrop Grumman Engineering and Quality standards
  • Capable of understanding and interpreting specifications/documents/contracts
  • Ensure effective supplier root cause and corrective action
  • Collaborate with program management, engineering, subcontracts/procurement functional management and supplier management teams
