About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Specialist, EH&S Generalist to join their team in Riverside, California. This role involves designing, developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization’s Environment Health and Safety (EH&S) programs and procedures to ensure employee safety and environmental protection. The specialist will ensure compliance with all corporate, city, state, and federal EH&S policies and regulations. The position reports directly to the EH&S Senior Manager and will primarily focus on air emission compliance, including managing Title V facility permit conditions and applicable SCAQMD rules. Responsibilities include applying for permits, preparing for and hosting internal and regulatory audits, monitoring proposed regulations, and participating in working groups to influence rule development. The role also involves assisting in other environmental, health, and safety areas to develop broader EH&S expertise. This is an onsite position in Riverside, CA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
  • 2+ years experience in Environmental or Health or Safety in a manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience managing and leading project teams or leading major initiatives.
  • Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering
  • Lean manufacturing experience (Kaizen, Six Sigma etc)
  • Aerospace experience

Responsibilities

  • Implements initiatives that drive continuous improvement in company and regulatory EH&S programs
  • Professional tracks are available with a focus in H&S or Environmental with a focus on air compliance, or a combination of all EH&S programs, with sustainability and security management aspects of the role possible.
  • Conducts in-depth analysis (audits, inspections, GEMBAs) of the business for opportunities to determine compliance.
  • Collaborates with site employees to define controls for EHS programs.
  • Assesses EHS impacts and supports/develops/implements programs to reduce risk as well as achieve and maintain compliance.
  • Manages environmental permits and reporting criteria.
  • Support the EH&S team in managing hazardous waste, stormwater compliance, and security protocols.
  • Establishes and tracks plans to achieve and maintain compliance and to reduce risk.
  • Supports business partners' facilities and employee practices to achieve and maintain understanding and compliance with EH&S regulations.
  • Creates and provides effective training to different levels of the organization.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 5% of the time
