About The Position

The Principal Specialist, Continuous Improvement plays a pivotal role in enhancing the organization’s performance. Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategy & Continuous Improvement, this position offers a unique opportunity to lead and implement initiatives as part of our CORE Operating System (Customer Oriented Results & Excellence). Based at our West Virginia facility, the candidate will define and implement our continuous improvement vision while providing training, continuous improvement coaching and change management needs.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment with a focus on continuous improvement, or an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 3+ years prior relevant experience

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate a high level of curiosity to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Experience managing projects, from inception to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean principles & tools such as: 6S, VSM, and Kaizen.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • ACE Associate or Practitioner certification, or CORE Apprentice or Champion certification.
  • Continuous improvement diploma or certification.
  • Experienced in applying the Six Sigma toolset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize processes, establishing standard work protocols.
  • Oversee the execution of continuous improvement initiatives within individual departments and the entire organization, managing all aspects from idea generation to project execution and change management.
  • Partner with business unit and value stream owners to implement best practices and industry-leading process improvement tools, such as SIPOC, Impact/Maturity analysis, MFA, QCPC, 3P, VSM, and RCA.
  • Coach and train key personnel to foster a continuous improvement culture, providing ongoing support and resources.
  • Coordinate with the CORE central team to ensure alignment with the organization's operating system standards.
  • Support the sustainability and growth of the central council by networking with other CORE leaders and sharing best practices.
  • Act as an advocate for elevating the organization's operating system program to benchmark levels through innovation, culture transformation, training, and effective communication.
