About The Position

The Consulting Solutions Architecture Team is a Pre-Sales overlay team with various Domain Experts who work with the Core WWT Account Teams to provide Domain Expertise & Technical Alignment across our largest customers within the Heartland Area. Come join WWT today! We are looking for a Consulting Solutions Architect to join our Consulting Solutions Architecture Team. As a Consulting Solutions Architect (CSA), you’ll partner with your Sales counterparts and Consulting Systems Engineers to lead the Enterprise Networking strategy for Fortune 500 customers across the Heartland Area. You’ll work across technologies like Datacenter Networking, Campus Networking, Wireless, SD-WAN, SASE/SSE, and AI Networking Solutions. You’ll also have full access to WWT’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC), a hands-on lab environment that supports demos, POCs, workshops, and personal development. The Principal Solutions Architect is a high‑impact, customer‑facing technical sales leader recognized across WWT and with customers as an innovator and leader in architecture and technology domains. This role operates as the strategic architect who: Leads must‑win, complex opportunities across a region or segment Connects customer business strategy to multi‑domain WWT architectures and services Drives field enablement and innovation driven through WWT’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC) lab environment, and thought leadership at scale The PSA is expected to be a top performer in the engineering organization, highly visible with customers, OEM partners and internal leaders, and a force‑multiplier for CSEs and CSAs in the field.

Requirements

  • Must live in or near the Detroit, MI metro.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience required.
  • 10+ years progressive experience as a Technical Consultant, Solutions Architect, Systems Engineer or similar, with a track record of success in pre‑sales and customer‑facing roles.
  • Demonstrated performance as a senior pre‑sales engineering or solutions architecture role (e.g., Principal/Lead Architect, Senior Systems Engineer, senior CSE/TSA/CSA or equivalent) with consistent recognition as a top performer and go‑to resource for complex, strategic opportunities.
  • Deep subject‑matter expertise across multiple technology domains, ideally demonstrated through advanced certifications (e.g., CCIE, VCDX) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to connect architectures to business outcomes, including TCO/ROI, risk reduction, productivity, and time‑to‑value.
  • Strong understanding of WWT’s portfolio, ATC capabilities, services, and solution areas, and how to compose them into differentiated customer solutions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and storytelling skills, comfortable with both deep technical audiences and C‑suite stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead without formal authority, influence cross‑functional teams, and operate as a trusted advisor to sales and engineering leadership.

  • Active learner who embraces change, seeks feedback, and invests in developing others through mentoring and coaching.
  • Ability to travel 25–30% (or as business requires) for customer meetings, workshops, internal planning, and industry events, with occasional travel to WWT offices and labs as needed.
  • Primarily remote/virtual role with flexibility required for multi‑time‑zone collaboration and critical customer engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary architectural leader on strategic accounts and high‑value pursuits within the region, in tight partnership with Client Directors, Account Managers, CSE leadership, and CSAs.
  • Regularly consult with customer IT and business stakeholders on solution lifecycle (strategy, design, deployment, operations, and evolution) to maintain deep understanding of their needs and constraints.
  • Lead C‑level and senior executive workshops, briefings, and whiteboard sessions that clearly tie architectures to business outcomes, risk posture, and financial impact.
  • Provide technical and business value consulting in “must‑win” situations, shaping win strategies, competitive differentiation, and overall solution approach.
  • Demonstrate technical mastery across multiple domains (e.g., cloud, networking, security, digital, data/AI) and integrate them into end‑to‑end architectures that align with customer strategy.
  • Lead or oversee discovery workshops, conceptual / high‑level designs, and solution roadmaps for complex multi‑domain opportunities, ensuring architectural integrity and clear business value.
  • Translate customer strategy into actionable solution blueprints, bill‑of‑materials guidance, and services scopes, coordinating with specialty practices, services, and delivery teams.
  • Be recognized as a thought leader within the Field Engineering organization and with customers, shaping how they adopt, operationalize, and get value from WWT solutions across multiple domains.
  • Create and share practical, reusable content for field teams and customers (e.g., playbooks, POV decks, reference architectures, customer stories) that codify best practices and patterns from real engagements.
  • Lead customer‑centric innovation forums (executive briefings, roadmap sessions, co‑innovation workshops) and selectively represent WWT Field Engineering at conferences and partner events, always anchored in measurable customer outcomes.
