The Solutions Architect role at Abbott is critical in ensuring our systems are secure, resilient, and scalable, turning product vision into technical reality. You will define and guide the end-to-end architecture for ingestion, storage, analytics, and secure distribution of biosensor data. This role requires strong technical depth, a 360° platform view, and the ability to communicate solutions to both engineers and business stakeholders.

  • Define and maintain Lingo’s reference architecture for high-volume, event-driven microservices.
  • Model backend domains (ingestion, analytics, partner APIs, user management) in alignment with domain-driven design (DDD).
  • Collaborate with DBAs on database scaling strategies (sharding, partitioning, replication).
  • Design and enforce secure API frameworks leveraging OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, and mTLS.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure API versioning, SLAs, and partner-facing requirements are consistently met.
  • Conduct architectural reviews, identifying scalability and security risks before they become blockers.
  • Translate business and partner requirements into scalable technical blueprints, balancing compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, ISO) and user experience.
  • Research and pilot emerging backend and cloud technologies for potential inclusion in the stack.
  • 8+ years of solutions architecture experience in large-scale, distributed systems.
  • Strong expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, and data modeling.
  • Hands-on knowledge of modern backend stacks (Java/Kotlin, Node.js, or Python).
  • Deep understanding of database scaling techniques and API design.
  • Strong background in API security and compliance best practices (OAuth2, OIDC, HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Experience designing for multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
  • Previous role as principal engineer or solutions architect in a scaled platform environment.
  • Familiarity with multiple cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid architectures.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical strategies to executives, product managers, and external partners.
  • Free medical coverage in our Health Investment Plan (HIP) PPO medical plan in the next calendar year.
  • An excellent retirement savings plan with a high employer contribution.
  • Tuition reimbursement, the Freedom 2 Save student debt program, and FreeU education benefit.
  • Career development with an international company.
  • Recognition as a great place to work in dozens of countries worldwide.
