We have an immediate need for a Principal Software Quality Engineer for the Strategic Upper Tier Missile Defense Agency/Sensors & Precision Strike (SSPS) section within the Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) located in Woburn, MA. You will work with the different cross functional organizations as an individual contributor to ensure verification and validation of design, development, and integration of Raytheon's digital products. Digital products include artifacts related to embedded code, simulations, firmware, and other artifacts as required by contract. This is an “Onsite” role in Woburn, MA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Eight (8) years' working experience in advanced technical concepts in the software development process.
  • Experience with software/firmware development processes; conducting quality assessments of software products and artifacts.
  • Previous experience with Agile or DevOps software development practices.
  • Emphasis on software testing, continuous integration and continuous monitoring.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to start is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Project and workload management experience, utilizing resources effectively to satisfy demanding internal customers and implementation schedules.
  • Previous technical leadership experience of small teams.
  • Experience defining and reviewing quality requirements for program bids and proposals.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience as an organizational spokesperson.
  • Previous experience as an advisor to management, customers and team members on Software Quality concepts and practices.
  • Experience working in Earned Value, ISO9000/AS9100 and IPDS.
  • Experience using CORE/Six Sigma practices and methodologies to continuously improve software systems.
  • Practical experience of Guidance, Navigation, Signal Processing, Radar and Discrimination systems and associated algorithms is desired.
  • Advanced degree - M.S.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of systems/digital products design and development.
  • Ensure that the digital products are compliant with product/process requirements.
  • Review and approve inputs/outputs to Software, Systems, System Integration and Test and other work products.
  • Perform evaluations/risk assessments of activities across the digital products development lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous improvements by assessing process/product measures to instill a continuous improvement and a data focused culture throughout your assigned program effort.
  • Ensure integrity of the digital products & the Technical Data Package.
  • Monitor and participate in the test and release of the work products.
  • Measure and evaluate key software attributes.
  • Provide guidance both to project staff and department senior staff.
  • Guide the successful completion of program quality assessments and may function in a software quality oversight role.
  • Interact with senior product development and test personnel through both written and verbal communication.
  • Improve and deploy Quality Engineering processes and project activities to improve key processes.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to improve product quality and process effectiveness.
