About The Position

Define and architect the long-term technical strategy for product maintenance, setting the vision for how Red Hat OpenShift is serviced and supported across the entire organization. Telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S. What You Will Do: Anticipate and prevent critical, systemic issues by architecting solutions and processes that eliminate entire classes of failures, ensuring the long-term architectural stability and business success of the Red Hat OpenShift portfolio. Own the architectural roadmap and technical integrity of maintenance streams across the OpenShift portfolio, influencing release engineering and product management on best practices for long-term supportability. Lead the strategy for complex CVE and bug fix resolutions, designing automated tooling and scalable backporting processes that increase the efficiency and security posture of the entire engineering organization. Act as a key technical advisor to product management, QE, and release engineering leadership, influencing multi-team roadmaps to ensure long-term product health, maintainability, and quality. Serve as the ultimate escalation point for the most complex and ambiguous technical failures, diagnosing multi-component systemic issues that require deep architectural expertise. Architect the overarching testing and CI strategy for product maintenance, establishing best practices and frameworks that are adopted by multiple teams. Mentor senior engineers and tech leads across the organization, elevating the overall technical expertise of the sustaining engineering discipline. What You Bring: Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and ten (10) years of experience in the job offered or related role. Must have ten (10) years of experience with Linux system administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Must have seven (7) years of experience with: Kubernetes architecture and design; diagnosing and resolving OpenShift or Kubernetes issues; and software engineering workflow automation. Must have five (5) years of experience with: OpenShift architecture and use cases; Patch backporting, including adapting upstream fixes to older code branches; and mentoring team members by providing technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and support for professional growth. #LI-DNI The salary range for this position is $131,420 - $216,870/ year. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications. Pay Transparency Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
