As a Principal Software Engineer within the Informatics organization (NX), which consists of 400 professionals, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing next-generation software tools that support the research and discovery process. This position requires a high level of collaboration with architects, engineers, product managers, user researchers, data scientists, and global discovery project teams to drive product innovation and launch new capabilities that enable scalable, secure, and intuitive access to research data for NIBR's global scientific community. In this role, you will be responsible for developing state-of-the-art software tools and methodologies that support the entire design-make-test-analyze cycle of the discovery process. You will take a lead role in the design and development of tools and technologies for integrating, processing, analyzing, and visualizing data at scale. Your responsibilities will include partnering closely with users and cross-functional product teams to translate business needs into powerful, functional, and aesthetically pleasing products. You will also provide consultancy around software tools and methodologies, suggesting innovative ways to leverage both internal and external data. Writing production-quality code and assisting your teammates while implementing your own ideas will be key aspects of your work. You will participate in the full development cycle, from product inception and research to prototyping and release in production. Embracing and promoting agile development principles and best practices for software development will be essential. As a leader, you will demonstrate strong technical and thought leadership, influencing and guiding the work of others. This position is located at the Cambridge, MA site and does not offer remote work options. The expected pay range for this position is between $136,800 and $205,200 per year, with total compensation potentially including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and various paid time off benefits, among others.
