Microsoft operates thousands of internal Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) identities, groups, tenants that enable our workforce to develop, monitor, and test Microsoft’s software and services. The Identity and Access Management Protect (IAM Protect) team builds, secures, and protects these digital resources, to empower our employees and our customers to achieve more. We develop highly scalable services and solutions to create, enumerate, configure, govern, and secure one of the largest fleets of digital assets in the world. We are seeking a Principal Software Engineering Manager to help build, coach, and lead a team that will architect and design the services and solutions to manage Entra ID identities and access at scale. This role will draw deeply upon your expertise in Cybersecurity, ability to lead a team of software engineers, both technically as well as a people manager, and experience in building and operating large scale online service. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of security at Microsoft and leveraging your insights to protect Microsoft services and customers, while leading, guiding, and growing a group of skilled security software engineers. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
4+ years people management experience.
5+ years of experience operating online services.
Experience in Cybersecurity
Experience designing solutions on Entra ID (Azure AD), Access Management, Identity Provisioning and Azure.
Experience on building and operating high scale services.

Responsibilities

Support customers and live site operation with a team of DevOps engineers.
Provide hands-on technical leadership: architecture, design, code reviews, development, security, quality.
Partner with product management, partners, customers, and other stakeholders to define requirements, scope projects and ship products in rapid, iterative cycles.
Architecture and design of software systems
Hire, coach, and grow a world-class team of software engineers.
