Walmart's Gen AI-powered Squiggly team is seeking an accomplished Principal Software Engineer with deep experience in mobile and web UI development using React and React Native. In this critical role, you will lead the transformation, design, and implementation of the Squiggly Chatbot Experience platform, building a unified, intuitive interface that simplifies and enhances the associate experience. This is an exciting opportunity for growth, reporting directly to the Director of Walmart Squiggly Experiences.

  • Drive Innovation: Lead the creation of cutting-edge solutions to elevate digital experiences for Walmart associates via the Squiggly platform.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Mentor and guide a high-performing engineering team through all phases of design, development, and implementation, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Architect & Design: Oversee and shape the architectural direction of the Squiggly platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical standards.
  • Enhance Scalability: Build robust, scalable solutions to meet the evolving needs of the business and its associates.
  • Integration & Deployment: Ensure seamless integration for consumers and deploy advanced AI capabilities within the Squiggly platform.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align on project goals and deliverables.
  • Advanced expertise in React technologies and asynchronous programming paradigms
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Strong background in Mobile and web app design; experience with GraphQL
  • In-depth understanding of both SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) database systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks (R2, cypress, Mocha), and version control (Git)
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, GCP, or AWS
  • Demonstrated success in building distributed systems, solving complex technical challenges, and leading engineering teams on large-scale projects
  • Strong architectural design and App development experience in production environments
  • Excellent leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across teams and with stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 7 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
