DTCC is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to make an impact on innovative projects within the financial markets. The Information Technology group provides secure, reliable technology solutions for the global capital markets, focusing on development, infrastructure capabilities, data standards, and governance. The Development family is responsible for creating, designing, deploying, and supporting applications, programs, and software solutions, encompassing research, new development, prototyping, modification, reuse, re-engineering, and maintenance. This role requires in-depth subject matter expertise in existing and emerging development methodologies, tools, and programming languages. Software Developers collaborate with business partners and external clients to define requirements and implement solutions. The Software Engineering role specifically involves planning, documenting technical requirements, designing, developing, and testing all software systems and applications. This position works closely with architects, product managers, project management, and end-users to develop and enhance existing software systems, proposing solutions for complex business problems. This role also serves as a dedicated technology resource to advance DTCC’s business opportunities and provide industry thought leadership, partnering internally with IT, business, and regulatory divisions, and externally with clients, regulators, and fintech vendors to build new platforms and business models.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of backend development experience in Java, Spring Boot, TypeScript, Angular/React.
  • Hands-on experience with using AWS cloud services and message broker platforms like Kafka.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM MQ, DataPower and Integration technologies.
  • Hands-on with REST APIs and Kubernetes based container platforms.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented design patterns and programming techniques.
  • Familiarity with build, observability and deployment tools – Splunk, Grafana, Maven, Jenkins, Dynatrace
  • Experience working with large modular codebases and Mono repos for scalable code.
  • Familiarity with packaging and deploying back-end applications, preferably using Docker or Podman.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and resolution of complex production incidents.
  • Communicates openly keeping everyone across the organization informed.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers across multiple geographies.
  • Drive agile development practices, code reviews, support using modern code assistant tools like AmazonQ and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams including QA, DevOps, and Product Management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead needed technical processes and designs considering reliability, data integrity, maintainability, reuse, extensibility, usability and scalability
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure partners to identify and deploy optimal hosting environments
  • Define scalability and performance criteria for assigned applications
  • Ensure application meets the performance, privacy, and security requirements
  • Tune application performance to eliminate and reduce issues
  • Verify test plans to ensure compliance with performance and security requirements
  • Support business and technical presentations in relation to technology platforms and business solutions
  • Mitigate risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls
  • Help develop solutions that balance cost and delivery while meeting business requirements
  • implement technology-specific best practices that are consistent with corporate standards
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure the success of product strategy and project deliverables
  • Manage the software development process
  • Drive new technical and business process improvements
  • Estimate total costs of modules/projects covering both hours and expense
  • Research and evaluate specific technologies, and applications, and contributes to the solution design
  • Construct application Architecture encompassing end-to-end designs
  • Mitigates risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.
