About The Position

Healthcare is broken, especially in underserved communities like the Bronx where 66% of patients are on Medicaid. Fragmented systems are leading to poor health outcomes and extensive financial burden. This is what inspired the inception of ecares health. We’re a healthcare tech startup spun out of Essen Health Care, one of the largest multispecialty medical groups serving the Bronx and surrounding communities. We work hand-in-hand with doctors and healthcare operators to build infrastructure that connects the entire patient journey, from engagement to scheduling, from clinical recommendations to care management, and from actionable tasks to health outcomes. Our mission is simple but powerful: to bring concierge-level healthcare to underserved communities at scale. Because everyone deserves high-quality, low-cost, and accessible care. As a principal engineer, you'll own the technical strategy and architecture of key feature streams while being deeply embedded in healthcare to identify and build novel solutions that improve care delivery. You’ll work closely with our 16 off-site engineers, product team, and venture studio to drive key architectural decisions and build scalable healthcare infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where you’ll spend time in clinical settings understanding workflows and pain points, then translate those insights into innovative technical solutions.
