As the Director of Distributed Storage Engineering, you will lead initiatives across multiple product areas to deliver high-performing, cost-effective, and reliable storage solutions for business-critical workloads supporting all areas of the firm’s financial services. You will collaborate with technology leadership and architects to define target architectures, establish product roadmaps, and drive strategic decisions for distributed storage services.

  • Define vendor strategies and create business cases that clearly outline technological capabilities and costs for executive decision-making.
  • Influence the direction of distributed storage services and present strategies to executive leadership.
  • Report regularly on the progress of critical projects and ensure alignment with business and technology goals.
  • Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering technical growth and collaboration.
  • Partner with leadership, product management, architecture, and support teams to deliver on strategic objectives.
  • Strong background in computer science with expertise in distributed compute and storage.
  • Deep understanding of storage technologies and vendor capabilities.
  • Experience creating business cases and managing budgets for technology acquisitions.
  • Proven track record in distributed storage engineering, including product selection, implementation, and management.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple block storage arrays and vendors.
  • Expertise in managing large Fiber Channel SANs and supporting iSCSI protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for storage incidents.
  • Capacity management and performance optimization experience.
  • Security-first mindset ensuring compliance and protection of critical systems.
  • Deep knowledge of storage technologies (SAN/Block, NAS, Object, Cloud Storage).
  • Practical experience with storage protocols (Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NVMe).
  • Ability to manage technology lifecycles and ensure compliance.
  • Strong coding skills for automation and experience with general-purpose programming languages.
  • Vendor management and product development guidance.
  • Leadership and crisis management during critical incidents.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for both executive and technical audiences.
  • Agile mindset with the ability to prioritize, focus, and deliver critical initiatives.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and networking is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
