Principal Software Engineer
About The Position
Online Advertising is a rapidly growing business, with a significant portion of the global advertising market already online. Search engines, web publishers, major ad networks, and ad exchanges process billions of ad impressions and terabytes of user data daily. In the evolving landscape of LLMs and agents, our team of engineers, PMs, and designers is dedicated to creating and rendering ads with the most appealing layouts, thereby contributing to Bing/MSAN revenue. We are seeking a collaborative and seasoned Principal SDE to join our team to help achieve ambitious goals in ads delivery and MSAN platform adoption. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to ads UX and infrastructure for ads serving. Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees residing within a 50-mile commute of a designated U.S. Microsoft office or a 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week, subject to local laws.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Nice To Haves
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Previous lead level experience.
- Previous UX design experience.
- Excellent technical design, problem solving and debugging skills.
Responsibilities
- To work with Design/PM/partner teams to come up the suitable UX design
- To build versatile rendering UX package/library on various platform
- To use data processing and monitoring system to analyze the system performance and drive the improvement on full ads stack
