Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer or a Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role is located in Redondo Beach, CA, operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position has No Remote or Hybrid work available. Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems sector team is seeking a talented and highly motivated Software Engineer to continue advancement in our leading-edge software for our most advanced systems. This project involves the design and development of software technologies that utilize Graphics Processor Units (GPU), supercomputers, and other advanced hardware for modeling & simulation, vehicle design optimization, and aircraft integrated technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5 Years experience; OR a master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3 Years experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 Years experience for Principal Software Engineer.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 8 Years experience; OR a master's degree in a STEM discipline with 6 Years experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 Years experience for Sr. Principal Software Engineer.
  • Proficient in developing and debugging C++ code.
  • 3+ years of experience with NVIDIA GPU implementation, a solid understanding of GPU architecture and differences from CPUs, and memory management in parallel environments.
  • Proficiency in optimization code techniques for performance on NVIDIA GPUs and in using performance profiling tools, such as NVIDIA Nsight Systems.
  • Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize algorithms for parallel execution and identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Proficient in C++11.
  • Current Department of Defense Secret or Top Secret level security clearance.
  • Experience with physics simulation modeling.
  • Experience in FORTRAN.
  • Experience using Linux.
  • Experience with Agile development processes.
  • Able to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and development environments.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
