About The Position

The Principal Software Engineer position at BAE Systems involves developing a full stack application using RESTful APIs, aimed at supporting military operations. Requirements

• TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain CompTIA Security certification
• 6 years of software development, or equivalent technical experience
• Experience in RESTful APIs, SOAP web services, Java or Python web applications required
• Proficiency with source code control tools such as git or Bitbucket
• Strong written and verbal technical communication & collaboration skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a related discipline

Nice To Haves

• Experience developing on Linux Operating Systems
• Experience with full stack frameworks (e.g., Spring, Wicket, Django, Flask) and/or experience with NodeJS /other front end languages a plus
• Interest in completing a CI polygraph
• Experience with automated build pipelines, Jenkins, Ansible, & Atlassian tools
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies (scrum or kanban)

Responsibilities

• Create a new web application using RESTful APIs which includes the functionality of a legacy tool
• Collaborate closely with the program subject matter expert and engineering lead
• Apply current and emerging technologies and tools in software development
• Expand the functionality of the existing toolset through new feature development
• Engage with the customer for feedback and input on technical direction
