Medtronic’s Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) business is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to be part of a high-performing team that is revolutionizing the design and development of energy based therapeutic medical devices to treat hypertension. In this role, you will leverage both your technical breadth and business acumen to support the newly approved therapy medical device software, the next generation medical device software products, and digital health solutions. This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) unit. Requirements

  • 2+ years of technical leadership experience
  • Hands‑on experience with CI/CD platforms and automation
  • Strong expertise in Windows application development (.Net, C#, C++)
  • Strong expertise in back-end development (AWS, C#, REST APIs, Databases)
  • Experience designing cloud-native applications
  • Strong knowledge of secure SDLC practices and software risk management
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline and minimum of 7 years of work experience OR advanced degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline with 5 years of work experience
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical leader and be responsible for architecting, designing, building, and scaling software release management and configuration management system across the full technology stack consisting of cloud services (AWS), Windows application, and system integrations
  • Drive technical strategy, ensures engineering excellence, and partners closely with product teams and business stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions
  • Lead the design and evolution of complex, scalable, and secure software release and configuration management system leveraging Agile principles and Scrum methodologies
  • Define and uphold architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices
  • Make high-impact technical decisions that align with long-term platform and business strategy
  • Review and guide system designs, APIs, data models, and integration approaches
  • Build and maintain high-quality Windows and AWS components using modern frameworks and technologies
  • Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, and compliance requirement
  • Follow Medical device regulations (IEC 62304, IEC 82304, FDA…etc.)
  • Ensure documentation of the software including architecture and design detail, unit testing, defect tracking and reports
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in software development, and make recommendations for process improvements
  • Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, audits, and lessons learned
  • Provide leadership in solving engineering problems and fostering creativity and innovation in design and problem solutions
  • Anticipate the need for new development tools, methods, technologies, and processes
  • Represent your team to the wider organization
