About The Position

The Consumer Experiences team is responsible for building the consumer mobile applications that power the PayPal's digital wallet, bringing valuable new features to life. Our goal is to acquire and retain consumers by delivering secure, seamless, and rewarding digital wallet experiences that help them save time and money-while also empowering merchants to acquire, convert, and retain customers more effectively. We are seeking an experienced and driven Principal Android Mobile Engineer to design and develop PayPal's consumer mobile applications. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep technical background and a passion for building exceptional customer experiences. This position is critical for providing technical leadership, guiding the team toward building a cohesive, next-generation Android mobile app, and closely collaborate with the mobile platform teams to create solutions that leverage the platform capabilities while ensuring the mobile app performance and scalability. This person will also mentor engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in mobile app development and 5+ years of architecting and leading senior engineers.
• Proven track record in designing and architecting complex features and functionalities for Android applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Ability to work across multiple domains and sub-systems, and think end to end while developing solutions.
• Good understanding of experience orchestrations and ability to collaborate with backend teams to come up with the Data modeling and API contracts.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Java programming languages with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
• Experience in performance optimization, multi-threading and memory management.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in the financial industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an architectural strategy that solidifies the exceptional mobile experiences development for Android.
• Provide expert advice and counsel to senior executives, influencing the development of multi-year strategy and tech roadmap.
• Oversee the design and development of the mobile applications.
• Ensure the applications meet high-performance standards and align with the overall tech strategy.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the developer community.
• Gather feedback to continuously improve mobile application development.
• Work closely with product, engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support teams to align consumer experiences initiatives with business objectives.
• Coordinate with compliance and legal teams to ensure all activities meet regulatory standards.
