Position Summary The mainframe architect will be responsible for designing and developing IT architecture (integrated process, applications, data and technology) solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards. Performs technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications. Develops specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings. Assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies. Will be responsible for leading the design, optimization, and modernization of CVS Health’s core mainframe platforms. This senior technical leader ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of critical legacy systems, while driving transformation initiatives that align with enterprise business objectives and modernization strategies.

Requirements

• 10+ years’ experience in mainframe technology (e.g., z/OS, COBOL, DB2, CICS, IMS, etc.) with at least 5 years in an architecture or lead role.
• 5+ Years experience in Healthcare Claims Adjudication
• Demonstrated success in leading mainframe modernization and transformation projects.
• Deep knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, security, and compliance in regulated environments.
• Strong experience with automation, scripting, DevOps, and CI/CD in mainframe contexts.
• Proven ability to communicate vision, influence technical direction, and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
• Experience managing and developing senior-level engineering talent.
• Mastery of problem solving and decision making skills

Nice To Haves

• Certified Agile Developer (CAD) preferred.
• Exposure to healthcare industry standards and regulatory frameworks pertaining to medical insurance and medical claims processing
• Certifications in enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF), project management, or relevant mainframe technology.
