About The Position

The Elementary School Principal is responsible for directing and managing the instructional program and supervising operations and personnel at the campus level. The principal provides leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service, oversees compliance with district policies, and ensures the success of instructional programs and the operation of all campus activities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in educational administration.
  • Texas principal certification.
  • Certified T-TESS appraiser.
  • Three years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Three years of experience in instructional leadership roles preferred.
  • Three years of Assistant Principal experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness.
  • Ability to manage budgets and personnel.
  • Strong organizational, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor instructional and managerial processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions.
  • Regularly consult the campus-level committee about planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of campus education programs.
  • Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.
  • Foster collegiality and team building among staff members.
  • Provide for two-way communication with superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community.
  • Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students.
  • Build a common vision for school improvement with staff.
  • Identify, analyze, and apply research findings to promote school improvement.
  • Develop and set annual campus performance objectives for each of the Academic Excellence Indicators.
  • Interview, select, and orient new staff.
  • Define expectations for staff performance.
  • Observe employee performance and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.
  • Develop campus budgets based on documented program needs.
  • Manage use of school facilities and supervise maintenance of facilities.
  • Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system.
  • Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment.
  • Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit support.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff assigned to campus.
