Make a difference as a Principal Scientist The Principal Scientist at TPM Laboratories is a senior, hands-on technical leader dedicated to enhancing analytical testing excellence within GMP-regulated laboratory operations. This dynamic role involves direct engagement at the bench while providing strategic scientific leadership and independent client interactions. You will leverage your expertise in chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques such as HPLC, GC, and ICP-MS to lead analytical testing for various materials. As a technical interface for external clients and audits, you will troubleshoot complex analytical issues and ensure data integrity while fostering collaboration across departments. Mentorship is key, as you will guide and support scientists and chemists, instilling best practices in compliance and documentation. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to project timelines, while making a significant impact in the research industry. What you need to be successful To thrive as a Principal Scientist at TPM Laboratories, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, with an advanced degree being a plus. A robust background of 10-15+ years in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or GMP analytical laboratory settings is essential, emphasizing hands-on expertise in raw material and GMP analytical testing. Success in this role requires proven proficiency with analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, ICP-MS, ICP-OES, FT-IR, and UV-Vis. A solid understanding of GMP, GLP, FDA, and pharmacopeial requirements is critical, alongside demonstrated experience in investigations, CAPAs, change control, and audit support. Familiarity with software and systems such as Empower, SAP, TrackWise, or QAMS is necessary. Additionally, the ability to work independently, make informed technical decisions, and take ownership of outcomes is vital for contributing to the lab's success and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline (advanced degree a plus).
  • 10-15+ years of industry experience in pharmaceutical biotech or GMP analytical laboratories.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in raw material testing and GMP analytical testing environments.
  • Proven experience with analytical instrumentation including HPLC
  • GC
  • ICP-MS
  • ICP-OES
  • FT-IR
  • UV-Vis.
  • Solid understanding of GMP
  • GLP
  • FDA and pharmacopeial requirements (USP/NF).
  • Demonstrated experience with investigations
