The Principal Scientist I, Biology position at Novartis focuses on biomarker data generation within the Oncology Pharmacology department.   • Learn and conduct routine biomarker assays, such as immuno-based assays (e.g., ELISA, MesoScale) and RT-PCR independently and as part of a larger team.
  • Work on assignments that are routine in nature with supervision for more detailed tasks and troubleshooting.
  • Document own experiments in lab notebook (including tables, graphs, etc.) in a timely manner and with detail.
  • Timely completion of trainings.
  • Bachelor's degree in biology or related discipline, with 5 or more years of industrial research experience.
  • Strong multi-tasking, analytical, organizational, critical problem-solving, attention to detail and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Meticulous laboratory approach, careful adherence to protocol and excellent lab notebook documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and serving as a point-of-contact for the team.
  • Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment to solve problems and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Manage multiple parallel activities and deliver samples by requested timelines.
  • Expertise in conducting lab assays for assessing proteins and mRNA readouts (e.g., BCA, immunoassay-based formats (ELISA, MSD), Western blots and RT-PCR).
  • Basic understanding of biology and a desire to learn and conduct biomarker assays.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite/GraphPad PRISM, with a strong expertise in Excel.
