About The Position

As a Principal Research Scientist, you will lead high-impact research initiatives that shape the integrity, quality, and governance of open knowledge systems. You will collaborate with senior leadership and global stakeholders to design and execute studies that inform strategy and operational decisions. This role involves mentoring researchers, translating complex findings into actionable recommendations, and advocating for scientific rigor within multidisciplinary environments. You will work across diverse time zones, contribute to public-facing research, and help define best practices in your domain. Your work will directly influence long-term strategies and the evolution of large-scale collaborative platforms. This position is fully remote, with occasional travel, and offers the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research while impacting communities worldwide.

Requirements

  • PhD and at least five years of experience in research, science, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of scholarly publications and service within relevant scientific communities.
  • 3+ years of strategic technical leadership in large or matrixed organizations or equivalent academic experience.
  • Advanced expertise in AI, NLP, ML frameworks, or mixed-method research applied to online communities or human-system interaction.
  • Ability to manage complex portfolios while mentoring contributors and balancing high-level strategy with technical details.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, capable of translating nuanced scientific findings for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working remotely across time zones and traveling periodically for stakeholder engagement.
