Principal Research Scientist, Vision Intelligence
About The Position
Samsung Research America plays a pivotal role in developing the next generation technology in software, user experience, and services for future products that can enrich the consumer’s life. The AI Center (AIC) is dedicated to advancing research in key AI areas such as deep learning, generative AI, computer vision, multi-modal machine learning, language AI, and on-device AI. Our fundamental research results in top tier conference papers each year and also contributes to Samsung products. We are looking for an experienced research leader to drive product-focused research in Computer Vision technology to contribute critical business needs for Samsung Electronics.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 11+ years’ industry work experience in Computer Vision and AI related projects
- Deep understanding of state-of-the-art Computer Vision theories, techniques, optimization strategies (Generative AI Engine & Applications, Image Processing/Search/Generation, Image/Video related solution)
- Strong communication skills and industry experience leading innovative projects in research environments
- Experience leading projects in CV-related product development, problem solving and algorithm with deep learning frameworks
- Strong background in programming (Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow)

- Strong publications track record in CV-related fields (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, TPAMI, and etc.)
Responsibilities
- Spearhead research and development efforts in AI core technology research and development in order to prepare company’s future and differentiate current business
- Collaborate closely with Samsung Research teams, including product managers, research scientists, and platform engineers, to align cutting-edge AI research with real-world product applications
- Multi-modal tasks, such as visual question answering and visual dialog, visual captioning, vision-and-language representation learning, and dialogue-driven image/video search, editing, and/or summarization
- Ensure that Centers publish at top conferences and journals (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, TPAMI, and similar), satisfy patents & paper goals and organize scientific events (conferences, workshops and challenges)
