About the position

Zurich North America is hiring an Risk Engineering Specialist to join our Quality and Compliance Risk Engineering team! We are open to hiring talent in one of the following locations: This position can be placed anywhere in the U.S, with a preference of our U.S Headquarters in Schaumburg Illinois. The ideal candidate will have a strong casualty background including training and technical expertise. Property knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify areas of systematic and technical knowledge gaps/strengths through review of completed quality reviews, individual technical quality reviews & discussions with the segment teams.
  • Support the development and delivery of training solutions to address these gaps at scale.
  • Adopt a systemic/root cause approach to understand factors impacting our quality and incorporate them into training.
  • Drive a collaborative process that seeks to provide insight to managers and coaching to the RE staff.
  • Stay current on the Global/North American technical standards and guidance to assure the accuracy of support.
  • Engage with the NA and Global Tech Centers to understand emerging issues and losses for incorporation into support.
  • Engage with managers to support regional and individual quality efforts.
  • Provide coaching to managers, reviewers and staff members to enhance quality.
  • Develop an ongoing communication strategy of the technical quality approach to provide transparency & trust in the process.
  • Support the development of summary reports in conjunction with the RE Quality leader.
  • Document improvement in staff and manager quality performance based on support provided or encouraged through the quality process.
  • Partner with the property educational leader and Property LOB leaders to support improvement.
  • Conduct focused technical quality studies as requested by senior leaders and the Technical Operations manager.
  • Lead or participate in technical quality projects as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area.

  • Advanced knowledge of Risk Engineering methodologies and the insurance industry.
  • Advanced skills and experience in consulting and partnering with business leaders.
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence at various levels.
