About The Position

In the personal and commercial computing space, speed to resolution is critical, but permanent prevention is the ultimate goal. This role is the organizational authority on the 8D (Eight Disciplines) methodology. As the Principal Quality Prevention & Root Cause Architect , you will transform how Personal Systems (PS) manages issues, moving beyond "quick fixes" to drive "true" prevention. You will lead cross-functional teams to dismantle complex technical and process failures, ensuring that once a problem is identified, it is architecturally prevented from ever recurring.

Requirements

  • Mastery of 8D & RCA: Deep expertise in 8D methodology and associated tools (Fishbone/Ishikawa, 5 Whys, Fault Tree Analysis).
  • Issue Management Frameworks: Proven ability to manage large-scale issue tracking and resolution systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Corrective & Preventive Action (CAPA): Advanced understanding of CAPA systems and their integration into Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer) or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 10+ years in quality engineering or product development, specifically within the Consumer Electronics, Aerospace, or Automotive industries.
  • Track Record: Demonstrated success in resolving high-impact, multi-variable technical issues in a global supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • 8D Process Leadership: Act as the subject matter expert (SME) in applying the 8D process for complex issue management and institutionalize processes and procedures to enable consistent execution of 8Ds across the quality and engineering organizations.
  • Strategic Issue Prioritization: Facilitate the identification and documentation of critical issues, ensuring resources are prioritized for 8D analysis based on customer impact and technical risk.
  • Cross-Functional Execution: Lead engineering, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing teams through all eight disciplines, from initial containment to the verification of permanent preventive actions.
  • True Prevention Advocacy: Articulate and implement a philosophy of “true” prevention that addresses the systemic management or design root causes rather than just the technical symptom.
  • Verification & Monitoring: Develop rigorous protocols to monitor the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions, ensuring long-term resolution and zero regression.
  • Mentorship & Culture: Guide internal engineers and external partners in the art of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), fostering a culture of technical discipline and intellectual honesty.
