About The Position

At the NSW Department of Education , we educate and inspire lifelong learners – from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training. The Principal Project Officer leads and coordinates the delivery of the regional skills model pilot in NSW. The role will work closely with employers, industry, government, community organisations and Registered Training Providers to promote and embed community informed skills decision making. Requirements

  • Proven experience leading the development and delivery of complex planning, policy or project initiatives, ideally within a regional or government context.
  • Demonstrate strong project management capability, including developing business cases, project plans, governance frameworks, and managing resources to deliver outcomes on time, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Provide high-level, evidence-based advice and recommendations on emerging issues, supporting informed decision-making aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Highly skilled in stakeholder management, with the ability to communicate effectively, negotiate outcomes, and manage issues to maintain engagement and achieve project deliverables.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
  • Applicants must be located in the Riverina or Murray region.
  • Working with Children Check for paid employment.
  • Current and valid drivers licence
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education and vocational education and training in particular.
