Mott MacDonald is seeking a seasoned Principal Project Manager with a strong background in transportation to join our dynamic and growing team in Atlanta, Georgia. This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee complex highway and roadway projects from inception through completion, contributing to impactful infrastructure development across the region.  Role also includes acting as Project Principal to oversee transportation teams' delivery of work, business development and building the pipeline for new work with key clients in the region and working with senior leadership to shape strategic plans and hiring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in transportation or civil engineering.
  • Strong familiarity with GDOT design standards; knowledge of adjacent state standards is a plus.
  • Active Georgia PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of CAD software, especially MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce and present technical reports.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and perform fieldwork as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in roadway engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to pursue, win and deliver transportation projects, with a focus on GDOT project development.
  • Strong focus on assisting leadership team with recruiting talent and building the team
  • Manage internal staff and external consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with scope.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape strategic plans for the transportation program.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through project delivery and industry engagement.
  • Prepare and present project updates and deliverables to clients, political boards, and subcommittees.
  • Support professional development initiatives both internally and externally.
  • Provide design support during construction in collaboration with the Resident Engineer.
