About The Position

We are seeking a strategic and analytically driven Principal Project Controls Manager to design, implement, and optimize the standards, processes, and tools that underpin our project delivery ecosystem. This role is central to ensuring operational excellence across cost, schedule, risk, and performance management, while enabling accurate financial forecasting and strong alignment between project execution and business outcomes. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in project controls, a strong understanding of revenue recognition, and the ability to translate complex project data into actionable insights for both internal stakeholders and clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Business, Accounting, Engineering or Project Management
  • 15+ years of related experience in utilities or a regulated industry
  • Proven experience in project controls, PMO operations or program management
  • Proficiency with project management and analytics tools (e.g. Primavera, MS Project, Power BI, Tableau).

  • MBA and/or PMP preferred

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement project controls standards, processes, and tools aligned with PMO objectives
  • Collaborate with PMO leadership to develop governance frameworks for cost, schedule, risk, and performance reporting
  • Establish clear relationships between project progress (earned value, milestones) and revenue recognition rules
  • Develop and maintain change control procedures to ensure scope, cost, and schedule impacts are documented and approved
  • Establish KPIs and deploy dashboards for monitoring real time portfolio health and project delivery performance, both internally and for client usage
  • Develop dashboards that combine project performance indicators with financial KPIs
  • Responsible for initial client organizational or project assessments, defining delivery architecture, and scaling teams based on strategic need
  • Create templates and strategic processes for risk assessments, cost control protocols, and schedule baselines
  • Develop and implement schedule control processes, including progress measurement and critical path analysis
  • Deliver risk and cost analysis during initial client engagements as value proposition
  • Ensure alignment between project deliverables with invoicing triggers
  • Ensure that project controls data (cost, schedule, resource utilization) feeds into financial systems for accurate revenue forecasting.
  • Conduct variance analysis and predictive modeling for proactive mitigation.
  • Quantify potential revenue impact and recommend mitigation strategies.
