About The Position

Perform general accounting activities on behalf of the Houston LNG/Downstream accounting group, specifically supporting the GPX Project. The Principal Project Accountant will be responsible for performing general accounting activities as needed including cash management tracking, preparing journal entries, running reports, account reconciliations and related activities. The Principal Project Accountant is responsible for interpreting internal and external business challenges in the Project Accounting discipline. The role requires specialized depth and breadth of expertise in the area of Project Accounting.

Requirements

Four-year accounting degree (Finance Degree with minor in accounting + experience is also acceptable)
Ability to work in fast-paced and dynamic environment and deliver accurate results.
Must effectively interface with clients, business associates and peers.
5-10 years relevant accounting experience in a large company environment with some of the experience on E&C projects
Experience with customer billing in the Energy & Construction industry
Knowledge of ERP accounting software (JD Edwards or Oracle Cloud software a plus)
Strong Excel skills required
Good verbal and written communication skills required

Responsibilities

Weekly tracking of project cash including AR, AP and draft invoices
Preparation of information needed to support internal and client cash management reporting
Run daily/weekly system reports and summarize/review for issues related to project
Preparation of journal entries, as required
Perform bank account reconciliation throughout week and at month-end
Monthly & special projects to analyze costs and accruals, as needed
Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, including US GAAP and Internal Controls (SOX)
